Featured Artist :: Peacock Lane

peacock lane

This week's featured artist is Peacock Lane!

Peacock Lane - Accessories for you and your home.

Senioritis: Name and location please.
Peacock Lane: Cheryl, Columbia, MO.
Senioritis: Hi Cheryl! Last week's featured artist was from Latvia and this week we're back to MO, we're racking up the frequent flyer miles :)

Senioritis: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Peacock Lane: I have been creating things since I was a kid! In college I purchased my first sewing machine. Then after making many things for family and friends, I decided that I wanted to start Peacock Lane. I truly enjoy combining different colors and fabrics and textures, to make unique designs. All of my designs are made from scratch. Sometimes I’ll sketch an idea first, other times I make the pattern from an idea that comes to mind. Either way I love when an idea comes to life.
Senioritis: Very cool Cheryl, you do a great job of combining different colors, fabrics, and textures! We love seeing ideas come to life as well. Our design process sounds pretty similar to yours actually; sometimes we sketch out a rough design but more often than not we just get working based on the picture in our head.

Senioritis: How would you describe Peacock Lane's style?
Peacock Lane: Unique, colorful, meticulous and a mix of modern design using vintage techniques.
Senioritis: Great description, we love looking at modern work that's created using vintage techniques.

Senioritis: Do you have a favorite color Cheryl?
Peacock Lane: Either leafy green or navy blue.
Senioritis: Hopefully we came close to the correct shades ;)

Senioritis: Are your a righty or a lefty?
Peacock Lane: Righty.
Senioritis: Well, as we established last week then; all leftys must live in Europe. We're off to Europe to find more leftys ;)

Senioritis: Do you have a favorite quote?
Peacock Lane: "Through zeal, knowledge is gotten; through lack of zeal, knowledge is lost." -Buddha
Senioritis: Great quote Cheryl, although we think anything that Buddha said can probably get bumped to the top of the list of great quotes.

Senioritis: Cheryl, if you could have lunch with someone famous, past or present, who would it be?
Peacock Lane: Marie Antoinette, she had a huge love of fashion, and I would love to find out more about what it was like to live in the 1700’s.
Senioritis: Hmm, very interesting choice. Lots of the portraits from that period of time show people in ginormous outfits, I always wondered how long it took them to get dressed :) We're sure Marie Antoinette would have some great fashion insights and we'll cross our fingers that dessert won't end with a trip to Lady Guillotine!

Senioritis: What's your favorite cartoon, from now or when you were a kid?
Peacock Lane: Rainbow Bright, when I was a kid!

Senioritis: Haven't seen Rainbow Bright in a very very long time but I did see a group of girls dressed up in handmade Rainbow Bright outfits for Halloween once and it was phenomenal.

Senioritis: Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years Cheryl?
Peacock Lane: Wow, 10 years seems like such a long time from now! Peacock Lane is still in the beginning stages and I would love to still be making projects for my shop 10 years from now. It would also be really nice to open an actual Peacock Lane boutique (brick and mortar) at some point in the future. So many possibilities!
Senioritis: Awesome! That sounds like a sweet plan to us. We think a lot of people who have web based shops would love to transfer over to the brick & mortar world. Best of luck Cheryl!

Senioritis: Are there any websites you'd like to share with us?
Peacock Lane: Peacock Lane's new blog, which is still in the works, and of course my Etsy shop.

Senioritis: Any shoutouts before we let you go?

Peacock Lane: Thanks to my family and fiancée, for encouraging me to do what I love.

We'd like to thank Cheryl for giving us some more info on the woman behind the work over at Peacock Lane. Thanks Cheryl!
